La caricatura dedicada al fútbol es, en ocasiones, un pretexto para referirse a los sentimientos, la pasión, la vitalidad y los conflictos de los seres humanos. En otras, nos muestra situaciones absurdas, exageradas, insólitas y ridículas, donde se trastocan los valores y aflora el humor.
No debemos dejar de mencionar , además, la importancia de la caricatura personal de los futbolistas, que tanta admiración despierta.
Lo cierto es que el fútbol constituye una referencia constante para los dibujantes humorísticos que, con vigor, astucia, ingenio y talento, abordan la realidad del mundo y sin concesiones a la risa fácil, nos invitan a compartir las múltiples aristas de un tema con una mirada que puede ser risueña, jaranera o satírica, pero siempre con una cuota de reflexión. De esta manera el humor desempeña un papel de entrenador de la mente, de ejercitador del raciocinio.

So that Humor Sapiens readers may appreciate different examples of the above, we have selected several works dedicated to football that were part of the 6th International Caricature Festival, PortoCartoon, held in 2000 and organized by the National Press Museum in the Portuguese city of Porto.
