¿Es casualidad que el día en que festejamos el cumpleaños de Humor Sapiens, también se celebra el Día de Todos los Santos? No lo sabemos. Por lo menos los fundadores de Humor Sapiens, Pepe y Alex Pelayo, no lo pensaron así cuando publicaron los primeros contenidos. Pero para estar a la moda se podría crear “una teoría conspiratoria” y decir que como El Día de Todos los Santos es una festividad católica en que las personas rememoran a sus seres queridos que han fallecido, el Día de Humor Sapiens, es una festividad mundana en que se rememoran los seres humanos con buen sentido del humor que han vivido (o viven).
Pero aparte de especular con teorías, es importante para nosotros que se conozca el proceso del nacimiento de esta página. A eso vamos ahora.
En el año 2013, Alex Pelayo le propone a su padre que recopile en una página web todo lo que ha hecho relacionado con el humor, pero no la parte de creación artística, si no el material teórico que ya Pepe estaba publicando sin orden en pepepelayo.com y que se basaba en un viejo sueño de aquellos años cuando hacía humor escénico con su grupo La Seña del Humor de Matanzas, en Cuba.
Entonces el padre revisó sus archivos, buscando qué podría ser interesante para el sitio web que su hijo le proponía, y se encontró con un viejo diccionario de términos relacionados con el humor y la risa. Era un trabajo que hizo en los años noventa, al leerse varios diccionarios en sus ratos de ocio, palabra por palabra, y las que tenían que ver con el tema, las reunía en un listado con su significado, obvio. Su objetivo en aquel entonces era hacer un “diccionario del humor y la risa” y después de la definición de cada término, poner un comentario humorístico de su cosecha. Pero ese trabajo nunca lo terminó. Era demasiado largo. Así que al aprobar ambos que ese diccionario podía servir para la nueva página, Pepe hizo lo mismo con diccionarios no oficiales buscados en Internet, consiguiendo localismos de países de habla hispana, para enriquecer el material. Decidió entonces no mezclarlo con creación humorística y así lo publicaron en humorsapiens.com. Es bueno recordar que años más tarde la Editorial Verbum de Madrid le encargó un Diccionario del Humor a Pepe Pelayo y el material de humorsapiens.com sirvió de base para ese voluminoso libro publicado en España en 2019.
Pero también encontraron otros textos que servirían para el proyecto del sitio Humor Sapiens. Por ejemplo, aparecieron unos cuantos artículos que Pepe había escrito –tanto publicados como inéditos-, sobre el humor y la risa. Además, publicaron el Programa Gracias por leer de motivación lectora a través del humor del mismo autor, más su propuesta Gracias por enseñar de Pedagogía del Humor y también textos sobre crecimiento personal a través del humor para diferentes edades y sectores de la sociedad: Humorterapia.
Le sumaron al Menú, una bibliografía de libros ensayísticos de consultas, una colección de citas célebres. Agregaron también las 165 entrevistas que Pepe les había realizado a humoristas y estudiosos del humor de unos cuantos países y de varias modalidades artísticas.
Era bastante material, pero les pareció poco para lograr un sitio especializado de mayor peso. Y comenzaron a recopilar investigaciones científicas, fiestas populares, efemérides, curiosidades y un gran directorio web, entre otras cosas.
Añadieron una resumida historia del humor y la risa, solo con los grandes hitos (que años después también se convirtiría en libro). Inauguraron un Salón de Humor la Fama, donde homenajearon a reconocidos humoristas fallecidos o agrupaciones disueltas, con sus datos personales, más sus principales obras y premios. Y por último, un espacio para las noticias actualizadas internacionales acerca de eventos importantes relacionados con el perfil del sitio y un espacio para homenajear a los humoristas fallecidos en el mes en curso.
Por supuesto, Alex con su talento y buen gusto, hizo un excelente diseño, tanto técnico como artístico. Y así quedó conformada la base de humorsapiens.com, la cual por suerte ha crecido, se ha desarrollado y consolidado en el tiempo.
Se puede declarar entonces “oficialmente” que Humor Sapiens es independiente, con vocación universal y con un perfil bien definido: el humor.
¿Pero realmente cuáles fueron y son los objetivos al crear y mantener este sitio?
Siempre a Alex y Pepe les interesó convertir a humorsapiens.com en un lugar para interesados, curiosos, aficionados, profesionales, investigadores y otros “humornautas” (así bautizaron a sus lectores) que los visitaban, en un sitio de convergencia, de amplia y segura consulta, único en la red, por lo menos en habla hispana. Un lugar de información actualizada sobre el tema. Un espacio de encuentro, análisis y debate sobre el humor en lo estético, en lo filosófico, en lo psicológico, en lo social.
Por último, “la guinda de la torta” la puso la iniciativa de crear el Boletín Humor Sapiens, de frecuencia mensual, que ya consta de casi tres mil suscriptores. Boletín donde se informa lo más relevante publicado en el mes anterior y los artículos de estreno para el mes que entra.
Sin dudas, sus creadores desearon que Humor Sapiens se destacara como recurso literario, gráfico, académico, escénico, etcétera. Quisieron promover el humor inteligente y sanador en diferentes áreas, especialmente en las artes, la educación, la salud y las relaciones laborales, entre otros campos, con el fin de facilitarle la vida a las personas y a las instituciones. ¿Lo lograron? Al parecer sí, porque el número de visitas diarias es sorprendente, para una página web que no es de diversión y entretenimiento, que no es “comercial”.
¿En qué se basaron para conseguir tales metas?
La idea soporte es que el humor, como actitud y respuesta vital, es un factor de crecimiento y calidad de vida, que responde a una necesidad íntima del ser humano, pues forma parte de su naturaleza.
En el simbólico libro de visitas que aparece a continuación de este Editorial atesoramos muchos comentarios positivos y felicitaciones de grandes humoristas, estudiosos del humor y de visitantes admiradores, que nos hace sentir orgullosos y nos demuestra que avanzamos por buen camino. But really what were and are the objectives when creating and maintaining this site?
Alex and Pepe were always interested in turning humorsapiens.com into a place for interested, curious, amateurs, professionals, researchers and other “humornauts” (as they called their readers) who visited them, in a site of convergence, of wide and Safe consultation, unique on the network, at least in Spanish speaking. Without a doubt, its creators wanted Humor Sapiens to stand out as a literary, graphic, academic, scenic resource, etc. They wanted to promote intelligent and healing humor in different areas, especially in the arts, education, health and labor relations, among other fields, in order to make life easier for people and institutions. Did they achieve it? Apparently yes, because the number of daily visits is surprising, for a website that is not about fun and entertainment, that is not “commercial”.
What were they based on to achieve such goals?
The supporting idea is that humor, as an attitude and vital response, is a factor of growth and quality of life, which responds to an intimate need of human beings, since it is part of their nature.
