Marcelo Lawryczenco, conocido con el seudónimo de "Lawry". nació en Laguna Paiva - Santa Fe (1945). Hijo de inmigrantes (padre ucraniano y madre polaca), cursó sus estudios en la Escuela Nº 688 y en el Colegio Nacional. Se interesó por el dibujo y la pintura y comenzó sus primeros pasos como autodidacta en el dibujo humorístico.

También ilustró los libros de Humor Político de Ediciones de la Urraca. Por otra parte publicó en los diarios: Prensa Libre, Córdoba, Tiempo de Córdoba y La Voz. En el exterior colaboró en España en las revistas: Cacumen, El Cronopio, Humor y El Papus. En Chile publicó en la revista Humanoide.

Marcelo Lawry - Hay diferencias entre el humor de los comienzos justamente por la experiencia de los años, que dejan atrás la mirada ingenua.

Alguien dijo que la vejez es la juventud acumulada. Es un juicio acertado. En mi caso personal yo venía disfrutando plenamente con mi actividad de dibujante humorístico, diría saludablemente. Ignoraba el paso de los años. La vejez era algo remoto que no me preocupaba. Hasta que un día viajando en tren y cuando nos acercábamos a la estación terminal, una mujer me pide que le baje su valija del portaequipajes que estaba arriba, cuando yo me aprestaba a hacerlo, la amiga que la acompañaba le dice: “No le pidas eso, es un anciano”. Yo tenía 62 años y no representaba más. Ahí, en ese momento pensé que ya empezaba a vivir la vejez. Y me dispuse a enfrentarla ignorándola. La jubilación no afectó mi ánimo. Años más tarde en un transporte público colectivo me cedieron el asiento. Yo rechacé la gentileza continuando con mi resistencia. Y así muchas veces. Lo que me hizo llegar a una conclusión: a la vejez te la imponen.

Marcelo Lawry - En la jubilación no se abandona la llama del humor, no se descansa, siempre aparece un motivo, una idea, una exposición, un concurso. Y ahí está el pasatiempo y el ejercicio. El amor a la profesión es más grande que la realidad de la vejez.
